About Me

Like most therapists, I came to this work through my own struggles to be a fully realized man, a journey I’m still on to this day.  At every age, it seems like there was plenty to celebrate about the strengths of being a man while noticing the unique challenges that we needed to overcome.

As teenagers, we struggle to find acceptance in our peers and hide our vulnerabilities for fear of being outed as weak or too similar to our female counterparts.

As we grow older, we may take that fear and let it derail us into facing the reality of adulthood.  We may struggle that taking risks and accepting failure is a necessary part of growth and development.

If we manage to get through those years and emerge into our grown up versions of ourselves, we then have to face the consequences of what pain we may have avoided and its impact on our marriages, how we engage with our kids, or lead our teams in the workplace.

Yet, men have qualities that should give them hope that the life they want and the man they want to become is achievable.

We are relentless.  We are driven.  We are competitive.  We are focused on finding solutions.  We can take these attributes and apply them to the personal growth process.  We can face our fears and learn new ways of coping.  We can identify our communication struggles and find ways to be both assertive and compassionate to get our needs met.

I look forward to being a support in your journey.  See my services page for more examples of the type of therapy and counseling I provide. Contact me.
